  • Miss Maggie

    Founder and Owner

    Miss Maggie is the owner and director of Serova School of Dance since 1986. She teaches Baby Ballet, Pre-Ballet, Ballet & Tap, Ballet & Tumbling, Pointe and Adult Ballet at Serova. She received a BFA in Dance from Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA.  The founder and Director of the Mercyhurst College Conservatory of Dance, an original Member of "The Park Dance Company",  a member of the "Dallas Metropolitan Ballet", and the founder of Serova's benefit for Multiple Sclerosis "Movin' for MS". 

  • Hallie Berger

    Hallie is a senior BFA dance major at Rutgers University. She grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She has been to ballet summer intensives at The Rock School, Orlando Ballet, Ballet Arizona, and the American Ballet Theater. She is in Rutgers Graduate School of Education working toward her Master's degree in dance education. In addition to teaching dance, Hallie also teaches Vinyasa yoga. 
  • James Keelen

    Hip Hop Instructor

    James Keelen started dancing at the age of 7, he has trained in Hip hop, Contemporary, Jazz, Break Dancing, Arco and more. He Started Teaching in 2014 and has taught classes in PA, NJ, and NY performed at the 2015 World of Dance in Freehold, New Jersey and performed on America’s Got Talent.  In 2016 James Participated in Earl Mosely’s “Hearts of Men” a dance workshop in Montclair, New Jersey. In 2009- 10 He also sang the national anthem at the US Open and has performed in musicals and plays as well. We welcome Mr.  James and look forward to a great year of hip hop dance!

  • Miss Marielle

    All Dances

    Miss Marielle is our very own home grown Serova S*T*A*R.  Dancing since the age of 2 1/2, Marielle just lives for dance.  Aside from dancing for 15 years with Serova in regional and national competitions and benefits for Multiple Sclerosis and recitals, Marielle now studies at Rutgers Mason Gross as a Dance Major with a Masters in Education and a second major in Business.  Marielle lives to dance and share her love of dance.  She has won numerous awards and scholarships to various programs including Joffrey Ballet NYC where she was offered an apprenticeship and Tony Bradford's Summer Intensive in NYC.  We welcome her with open arms as she ventures out in the world of dance.

  • Miss Stephanie

    Miss Stephanie, our very own home grown Serova S*T*A*R*, danced at our studio for 14 years before venturing off to college. She is currently an elementary education and dance major at Rider University. She has danced with Kutztown University's dance club as well as Raritan Valley Community College's dance department. At Rider University, as well as being a dance major, she dances with the Rider Dance Ensemble. Miss Stephanie's warm approach to children and her love to teach can be seen as she conducts Hip Hop and Lyrical classes on Fridays at the studio!

  • Miss Julie

    Miss Julie began her dance training at a young age right here at Serova School of Dance. While in high school she also attended the Somerset County VoTech’s Gifted and Talented Performing Arts Program in Bridgewater. Julie received her BFA in Dance Performance from Ohio State University. Later she graduated from Seton Hall University with a MA in elementary education and proudly served the community of Westfield as a first grade teacher. Julie currently resides in Branchburg with her husband and two young daughters. She is very excited to be back “home” and is eagerly looking forward to sharing her passion for movement and the joy of dancing with the families of Serova.

  • Sara Nelson

    Sara Nelson is a proud mom of 5 who has woven into mothering her love of dance and her desire to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.  She first discovered Zumba after the birth of her 4th child and was instantly hooked.  She has been a licensed Zumba instructor since July 2014.  She also has a BFA in dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University and also worked as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant for 7 years. Sara carries her experience and knowledge into her classes to create a fun safe, and effective workout while helping students find their "inner dance" and gain confidence in themselves.  Sara believes in bringing people together.  Dancing and sweating together in a non-threatening, no judgement zone like her Zumba class is a great way to build friendships.  Ditch the workout;  join the party.    

  • Miss Vida

    All Dances including Specialty Dances

    Miss Vida is often fondly referred to as "Momma V" by her students & parents, because in her classroom she makes them feel like they are part of her "dance family" at Serova.  She is proud to share her love of dance and music with all her students and her fun jazz classes are a favorite of many of the Serova students.  Miss Vida also choreographs and teaches the popular Production numbers that Serova performs every year at competitions and in performances at the Somerset Patriots games.  

    She studied at the Royal Academy Of Dance in London- Ballet Certificate and is a member of the Imperial Society Of Teachers of Dance- Modern Theatre and Jazz Certificatea. She has taught ballet, jazz, lyrical, pointe, specialty and adult tap for over 15 years at Serova.  Miss Vida was recently in a National Tour of "Smokey Joe's Cafe" and Sophisticated Ladies" (of which she was choreographer for).  She has performed in NYC at the legendary "CopaCabana" with The Shirelles, Johnny Maestro,  Jay Black and The Americans, "Roseland Ballroom" with The Beach Boys,"Town Hall Theatre" with Paquito D'Rivera. In addition Miss Vida has toured the US and Canada performing in Cabaret, Nite-clubs, Dinner Theatre, Industrials and Regional Theatre. Some of her favorite shows were "Will Rogers Follies", "Me and My Girl", "West Side Story" in the role of "Graziela". She has choreographed over 13 musicals for HCRH School. Miss Vida has worked with renowned choreographers such as Frank Hatchett, JoJo Smith, Ronn Forella, and Fred Benjamin of Alvin Ailey.

  • Miss Chris

    All Dances including Specialty Dances

    Miss Chris has been teaching dance for over 20 years (most of them with us at Serova!). She graduated with a BFA in Dance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. She received the Choreography Award from her university upon graduation. Some of her featured performance roles have included Cinderella in “Cinderella”, Louise in “Carousel”, The Queen of Hearts in “Alice in Wonderland, Lilac Fairy in “Sleeping Beauty”, and Lily in “Annie”. She has also performed in the dancing chorus in “Oliver”, “Kismet”, “Pippin”, “Evita”, “Snow White”, “Nutcracker”, and “Coppelia”. She also performed at both Sesame Place theme park and with Sesame Street Live International. She currently teaches Ballet, Modern, Pointe, Lyrical, Jazz, and Specialty Dances for Competition.
